In Denmark they are going to give the guests of the music festival a beer of their own urine. The project organizers are counting on the help of 100 thousand people. This amount of people is enough to brew 25 thousand liters of live beer.
Collected urine will be used for brewing barley fertilizer.
The project is called “From P * ss to Pilsner” (“From urine to Pilsener beer”). The urine collection was held at the largest European music festival Roskilde on the island of Zealand in Denmark. This is a joint initiative of the festival organizers and the local Agriculture and Food Board (DAFC).
Visitors to the festival were asked to relieve themselves in a metal tank with an inscription calling to share their body waste with Danish farmers who know the recipe for turning them back into beer.
As a representative of DAFC told The Guardian, urinals were also installed near the stage, so that musicians could participate in the action.
Beer brewed according to a special Danish recipe, guests of the festival in Roskilde will be able to taste in 2017.
It is reported that this initiative is designed to have a positive impact on the environment, as well as to change the approach to the collection and recycling of organic waste.
