Samsung CEO to spend five years in prison

Earlier, we already told you that the billionaire and vice president of the South Korean company Samsung Electronics Li Jayon was arrested on suspicion of giving multimillion bribes to government officials. Lee Jaeon is the son of chairman of the Samsung concern Lee Gonghi, but it was he who dealt with the affairs of the company after his father retired after a heart attack. Now the company will have to deal with the problems somehow without its leader for five years, because he was given a conditional, but quite real prison term.

The scandal surrounding Samsung flared up at the end of last year, when, as a result of the investigation, former South Korean President Pak Kun Hye was removed from her post by impeachment. The investigation also found out that the vice-president of Samsung Electronics repeatedly gave multimillion bribes to key figures of the government, as well as to the right hand of the president - Choi Sun Soil, in fact is the gray cardinal of South Korean politics. Li Jaeong held interrogations in the prosecutor's office for several tens of hours, and together with him interrogated other heads of major Korean companies LG and Hyundai.

Following the investigation, Li Jian was found guilty of giving bribes and wasting funds. The judge sentenced the vice-president to five years in prison, which is much less than the expected time. Let us remind you that initially the head of Samsung shone a term of 12 years. However, according to many, a bribe taker is enough for five years to repent that he spent more than $ 38 million on bribes. The prison term of the head of the company is unlikely to seriously affect her future plans. New smartphones, tablets, televisions and other devices will continue to be produced according to previously compiled schedules.
