It is very popular in Korean folk medicine, and since ancient times its juice and broths have been used to relieve unpleasant symptoms, including those caused by drinking a lot of alcohol. The active substance to which the tree owes its healing effect is amelopsin. In 2012, a study was conducted according to which the administration of amelopsin to experimental rats removed the symptoms of a hangover and even prevented the intoxication of animals.

According to the creators, 1 serving of ice cream contains 0.7% of the extract of guinea, in which amelopsin is enough to "put on" a person with an average mass of 80 kilograms.
