3Dphotoworks New York Company has set a goal to help blind people to get acquainted with the legendary canvases of famous artists. What people who lost their sight could not have dreamed of before, could very well become a reality. They will be able to “see” the famous paintings with their fingertips. And it became real due to the dense technology of 3D printing that has entered into our life with you.

This initiative to create tactile paintings was developed in cooperation with the American National Federation of Blind People. According to research by scientists, the brain of a blind person is fully capable of transforming information obtained by tactile means into visual images. Of course, a person will see the picture completely differently than we used to see works of art. But still it is a great opportunity for people who have lost their sight to touch the world of art in the literal and figurative sense. At the same time, they will be able to feel with their fingers not only the composition, but also the characteristic drawing technique for one artist or another, including individual brush strokes.

“To give people who are deprived of sight the opportunity to feel the greatest canvases of various artists is the main goal of our project. We want such pictures to appear in every American museum, scientific center and cultural institute. Of course, we also dream that this technology will eventually go beyond the United States, ”said John Olson, founder of 3Dphotoworks, to journalists.

To make the experience of viewing artwork even more intense, every 3D picture is equipped with a set of sensors that, when the human fingers touch them, are voiced, which is specifically depicted in this or that area of the canvas. It took seven years to develop the technology for creating such paintings from 3Dphotoworks, and two years was needed to test this technique on blind volunteers. For today the company is capable to create tactile cloths in the size 150 on 300 centimeters.

3Dphotoworks crowdfunding platform launched the program fundraising in support of your project. It is necessary to collect $ 500,000 by December 10, and if the goal is achieved, the money will go to increase the company's staff, improve current technology and increase production capacity.
