Canadian fashion designers showcased bulletproof business suit

Костюмы для защиты бизнесса

Employees of the atelier in Toronto demonstrated a new bulletproof business suit. It is noteworthy that the director of the studio Michael Nguyen became the tester of the novelty. He had to feel, literally on his own skin, the whole charm of the feeling of being protected from being hit by a hunting knife and a shot of a 9-mm pistol. Fortunately, this show he survived without a scratch.

Bulletproof clothing has been around for a very long time, but it looks, as a rule, quite brutal and very heavy, and a significant portion of people in need of such protection cannot afford to appear, say, at a reception or public appearance in a bulletproof vest.

In the structure of its lining, a protected business suit contains several sheets of carbon nanotubes made by the same company that makes armor for equipping special forces of the US Army. These sheets are thinner and more flexible than Kevlar (a material that is five times stronger than steel) and at the same time weigh half as much.

The protection is based on the ability of the nanotubes to intertwine in the place where the point impact was inflicted and thereby preventing the penetration of the knife's edge or the bullet into the fabric.

Preliminary testing showed the ability to withstand a 45 ACP bullet (11.43 × 23 mm) fired from a Colt automatic pistol. This result corresponds to the level of protection "2a" according to the classification of the American National Standards Institute, however, the official certification of the costume is not at issue.

The estimated cost of a “shield” of a businessman will be about $ 20,000. Of course, they will not be swept from the shelves of boutiques. But according to the designer, for those who are rich and embroiled in a risky business - this is what the bodyguard ordered!
