Architectural firm Milroy Perera Associates from Sri Lanka presented an interesting concept of the building, which will become the world's tallest garden. The plants will completely surround the facade of the entire structure, whose height will be 186 meters. The construction of the high-rise garden began last year, and completion of construction is planned for 2016.
The tower, dubbed Clearpoint, will have 164 apartments located on 46 floors. The area of apartments will be slightly more than 200 square meters, according to gizmag.com. According to the architects, in such apartments, people will be able to feel the natural nature, despite the fact that they are located in the center of the metropolis.
Plants on the terraces of each apartment will create a natural sound insulation, protect from the scorching sun, and will also purify the air from carbon dioxide. For irrigation of the “living” apartment, an automatic irrigation system will be used, which will collect rainwater for the irrigation system, as well as sink water. According to experts, such use of water resources will significantly reduce consumption from the national water supply.
Due to the fact that all the windows of the skyscraper will be covered with plants, residents of the house do not need to install additional air conditioners. All apartments will only have a ventilation system for air circulation.
In addition, a portion of the building’s energy needs will be met by rooftop solar panels that will be used for public lighting, elevators, recyclable systems, and other utilities.
