AMD is going to lay off 30 percent of staff

The authoritative resource All Things D, citing reliable sources, said that in the next few weeks, AMD plans to reduce from 20 to 30 percent of employees. This is approximately from 2,200 to 3,300 jobs. Recall that as of the end of the second quarter, AMD employed 11,737 people.

AMD has previously resorted to such measures in order to reduce operating costs. Last week, AMD published the preliminary results of the third quarter, which, to put it mildly, are not very comforting.

Recall earlier it was assumed that the income indicator for the third quarter will not fall by more than 3 percent compared with the previous quarter. It has now become clear that the difference from the expected income indicator due to the difficult macroeconomic situation will be 10 percent.
