IBM and Vodafone will jointly develop technologies for smart homes

Vodafone

IBM and Vodafone decided to combine their efforts in creating smart home management technologies. They presented the first joint developments at the IFA international consumer electronics exhibition, recently held in Berlin.

In their work, IBM and Vodafone used mobile communications and cloud computing to create a convenient way to control home devices. The latter is supposed to be connected to the Vodafone Global M2M Platform telecommunications platform, which, in turn, works on the new cloud computing services platform from IBM - SmartCloud Service Delivery Platform. M2M technology, which stands for Machine-to-Machine, involves wirelessly connecting home equipment to the Internet. Due to this, the devices will be able to exchange data with the provider or manufacturer, passing information to further improve the devices, add new functions and improve the quality of services provided.

You can control home appliances connected to the Vodafone Global M2M Platform using a personal smartphone. He will let you control fire-fighting equipment , check the work of lighting, monitor the volume of consumed utilities and start or stop household appliances.
