Lexmark is going to stop production of inkjet printers. This decision was made as part of the strategy to update the company, it will save up to $ 95 million per year and significantly increase the profitability of production.

Lexmark’s final withdrawal from the inkjet printer market will occur in 2015. After that, Lexmark will stop the maintenance and support of its inkjet printers, as well as the production of consumables for them. Refilling cartridges in Moscow will be possible only due to non-original products, the release of which will continue for some time.

In the process of closing the production of printers, Lexmark will cut about 1,700 jobs, including positions in research, development, supply management, support, and other departments related to inkjet printers. By the end of 2015, the plants in the Philippines, where most of the products come from, will cease to operate.

After winding down the production of inkjet technology, Lexmark will focus on laser technology. This direction looks more promising and provides more opportunities for innovation and competition with competitors.
