At the age of 69, Bill Mogridge , the British designer of the world's first prototype of modern laptops, died. Mogridge spent the last days of his life with his family and died of cancer.

A British designer created the world's first Grid Compass laptop in 1979, commissioned by the US Army. Then they began to sell it for everyone, though not everyone could afford it. The original laptop cost as much as $ 8,150, had a screen and a keyboard and looked like a “book”. For those times it was a real revolution. The laptop was even used aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery.
